Artwork from Alford Junction

I am into genealogy and old documents and I acquired what appears to be a sketch done by someone who was practicing either drawing or calligraphy. It is a sketch of a dove? in a sheaf of grain, and  inscribed within the sketch are "Alford Ontario"; "Excelsior";  "penmanship", and what looks like "J.A. C'rouck." The apostrophe may  be a slip of the pen - but regardless - no amount of searching has  brought me any closer to this person using many variations of the name. The sketch is done on the back of a blank Grand Trunk Railway System memo. It is mounted on a sheet of paper on which (the same person?) has drawn two male figures as would have appeared in a fashion  magazine - and they are very well done.

My research suggests that Alford, Ontario is the now lost "Alford Junction." It no longer exists as an Ontario place name. A post on Ancestry in reply to an inquiry about Alford Junction states:

"Alfred (sic) Junction was on Lynden Road right at the railway tracks east of Park Road."

The Brantford Weekly Expositor of December 26, 1907 references the wedding of a Mr. and Mrs. Llett who "will reside at Alford Junction."

Any thoughts would be appreciated. David G Jones shibumi.management@gmail.com

Editor’s Note:

Alford Junction was on Powerline Road  where the railway line crosses the road. This is just east of our library location.
